Jason Hayes Foundation

The Jason Hayes Foundation is excited to announce that beginning in 2019 we will be making up to three $2,000 scholarships. Eligible applicants are current Massachusetts residents who are currently or have been in foster care and will be attending an accredited 2 or 4 year college this fall (either as a first year or subsequent year student.)

Timeline:  Applications are due (by mail or email, instructions below) by April 30, 2019. We anticipate communicating decisions to applicants by June 1, 2019 and allocating funds by August 1, 2019.

All applications will be become the property of the JHF and held in strict confidence by the Board of Directors of the JHF. Eligible applicants are those who are attending a 2 or 4-year college or university (either entering their first or any subsequent year of study) and who are or have been in foster care in the state of Massachusetts.

  • Please provide the names of any standardized tests you have taken and the scores you received (SAT, etc.)
  • Please list your school, community and individual activities or interests including participation in such areas as student government, athletics, music, community projects, hobbies, clubs, honors received. Give a brief description of each if appropriate.
  • Please list all full or part-time employment during your high school career. Do you anticipate gaining employment during your college career? And if so, what kind?
  • Do you currently live at home with family? If so, please tell us about your home life. Is your family able to help you with college/university expenses? If so, please elaborate.
  • Please describe the area of study you plan to persue. How will this help you reach your career and life goals? What has lead you (in your past or present) to want to reach for these goals? Any other information you would like to share about yourself may also be included here.
  • School transcripts must be forwarded to the Foundation in a sealed school envelope. Two letters of recommendation are required and one must be from DCF, a social service agency, and/or a school guidance counselor.
